The new robot from Unbounded Robotics is Wally mixed with Isaac Asimov’s The Bicentennial Man. The age of household robotics is here at last.
The UBR-1 will set you back a little over £22,000, which is much lower than competitive industrial robots, bringing it within reach of a high end kitchen or garage. Fancy a mechanical butler?
Unbounded Robotics was founded by Melonee Wise and partners in 2013 and intends to start delivery of these mechanical marvels in the summer of 2014. The company sees the robot being used in warehouses and industrial academia and believe it to be the Model T of the robots industry. They could well be right, this little guy can move about and once they get the software right should be easy to set up control.
